Or Ayn Sof Unending Light Ayn Sof and Or Ayn Sof are terms frequently used by the Zohar and other kabbalistic books to describe God. Ayn Sofwas first used by the kabbalist Isaac the Blind. "For Cordovero, (whom Scholem calls,• the greatest theoretician ofJewish mysticism"), only Ayn -Sof was the real God of whom religion speaks." • ... Luzzato insisted on the personal character of the Ayn-Sof." (p. 271-2, Major Trends) The Or Ayn Sof •is the warmest thing you could imagine. •is not a thing. •is the most dynamic system you could imagine. •is harmonious and compassionate. •transforms everything it embraces. •is as simple as a crystal and complicated as the weather. •is totally changing in its parts, yet one, unified, and unique. •is totally whole, holistic, and healing. •is open and sensitive, as it does not operate in isolation. •is always on the move, always changing. •never precisely recycles to its initial status. •pulses every second as golden light, throbbing waves, heavenly echoesunseen, underappreciated, unexperienced, and (mostly) unheard. •is what it is. Hey! Will be what it will be. •implies a holism in which everything influences everything else, constantly. •is sensitive to its internal subtle fluctuations, such as, the thoughts you are having now. • learns from its internal chemical reactions. This is us-our bodies-you and me. •suggests a new religious and artistic aesthetic which is irregular and not perfect. It is holistic rather than hierarchichal; alive, yet non-anthropocentric; purposely ambiguous in an inclusive way; sensitive; non-euclidean, paralleling what we can see of nature. It is not limited to being infinite or omnscient, omnipotent, or ideal, and includes every iregularity, or limited phase, in its infinity. It is not smoothed over-just as clouds are not spheres, mountains not cones, coastlines not circles, bark is not smooth and lightning does not travel in a straight line, so Divine Energy is not knowable or anticipatable and does not moralise; and it waits for you, idling at light speed. Perhaps we can call this aesthetic, Ayn sofi-ut. The Or Ayn Sof never alights on you twice in exactly the same way . M'dor L'dor. L'olam Va-ed. May-olam V'ad Olam. Yah Melekh. Yah Malakh. Yah Yimlokh, L'olam Va-ed. From generation to generation, Forever and on. From world to world. Yah empowered. Yah empowers. Yah will empower, forever and onwards.
