Tisha B 'Av Service Flow The following is a suggestion for a service- a combination of song highlights, readings and prayer flow for Tisha B' Av following the chapters of the book, Lamentations, traditionally read on Tisha B'av. The songs "Al Ayleh", "Nakhamu", and "Asay," are Reb Shlomo Carlebach songs; "Rabba Emunatekha" is from Shefa Gold; "Koli Shamata" is a chant from the Shofar service on the High Holydays; and "Hashivaynu" is traditional. Translations of "Asay" (ch. 4) is from the Aquarian Minyan Makhzor. Other translations and prayers are from Rabbi David Wolfe-Blank. Reading from Lamentations, Chapter 5: Yizkor for Tisha B' Av God filled with compassion, who dwells beyond knowing may all who died and suffered in the difficult times which occurred on so many of the past Tisha B' Av's, the saddest days in Jewish history- when the Babylonians destroyed the first Bait Hamikdosh in 586 BCE; when the Romans burned down the second Bait Hamikdosh in 70 CE; when the Jews of England were expelled from that country in 1290 CE; and the Jews were commanded to be expelled from Spain in 1492; and all the murderous actions chosen to be perpetrated on this day by the Nazis; and the resulting discouragement to our sense of engagement with the world; the deterioration of our moral fiber which came after all this trauma. May all who suffered find healing and peace; may the wounds to our collective psyche come to a complete healing through our actions in the year to come; may those parts of our world, water, land and air, which are already poisoned find correction and redemption; may lost species find their way back to rejoin our world's creativity; and all who have perished find rest beneath your motherly wings. May the memories of the souls of those who fell on this date shine for us like the sun in the bright sky. They have found their home in you, hidden from all further pain. May they be bound in the bond of eternal life. The Infinite is their portion. Let them rest in peace, and let us day, Amen. Prayer for strength to heal and support 0 God who lives within us, within our hearts and minds and bodies, who strengthens our courage and enlivens our faith in a better future help us to stand up for and to heal ourselves. Help us to support those who stand up for Jews who are persecuted and for any human being or people oppressed and for the planet who is oppressed, even though this may mean taking risks. Teach us how to heal ourselves, to heal each other, to struggle against all those who are now hurting and destroying creatures needlessly. Teach us tp heal our world. May it cease to be poisoned soon; and may all existent poisons, dangers and threats to our oceans, land and air, our food, water, and breathing, and to our very life, find the needed corrections and healing; and may we, and the whole earth, find guidance from You now. Let your voice within us grow stronger. May the destructive forces which initiated the tragedies of Tisha B 'Av never plague us again and may a completely 9'"ouftearc{ my voice,do not fiiaeyourearat mysigliingana my cry.
