SAYINGS OF RABBI NACHMAN Gevald!!! Never give up hope. There is no such thing as despair. It is a great mitzvah always to be happy. Meditation is a very high level. In fact it is above all other levels. If you believe you can spoil, believe you can fix. Know! that in life a person walks on a very narrow bridge. The most important thing is not to be afraid. Even when things seem to be at their worst, the situation can turn around to one's full advantage. For the pleasure of a quarter of an hour, a person can lose his or her portion in this world as well as in the World to Come. When asked, "What really is the power of choice?" the Rebbe answered: "Simple. If you want, you do, if not, not. Too many people are trapped in their habits. But if they truly want to, they may easily overcome them. No one is ever given an obstacle that he or she cannot overcome. Although the land of Israel appears to be just the same as any other land, it is actually very great and awesome in its holiness. The same is true of a righteous person. He or she looks like everyone else, yet his or her inner being is entirely holy and completely different from the ordinary person.
