k n H tz t Tikkun Hatzot, the Repairing of Midnight, is a preparation for the morning davvenen. It deals with prayers said to grieve the loss of the perfect world, to mourn the loss of the sacred Temple within and without, in our culture. So we begin with finding the ,ground from which we aim to cleave. Section The preparations for davvenen begin with the previous evenings laments and accountings. This organization (which is based on the traditional order of events leading to the morning davvenen) lends itself to the kinds of stock-taking suggested by the 12 step movement of accountability and responsibility for the status quo, and to the meditations on the pages that follow.
